Small leather coin purse containing old coins and a metal clip for use as a bookmark. There are 2 "liberty head" dimes that have their dates worn off. However, going by their approximate diameter and the "Draped Bust" design, they could date from 1796 to 1809.
There is a US penny dating from 1848, a "buffalo" nickel with a worn date and a British penny dated 1903. There is also a 1901 US penny set in an aluminum disc which was sold as a souvenir at the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, NY.
The coins pictured below are the British 1903 penny, the US 1848 penny and the 1901 souvenir "pocket piece" inset with a US penny. The other coins were too worn to include as close-ups. |
