Enzyme / Bacteria Treatments
Powdered Enzyme Treatment
To understand how the little box on the left can save you money and help you avoid nerve shattering back-ups and clogging, you have to understand how your septic system works.

Briefly, on Long Island, most systems are comprised of a waste line that runs from the house to a septic tank where naturally occurring bacteria break down solids (grease, proteins, starches, paper etc.) turning them into carbon dioxide and water. The gases dissipate and the wastewater flows from the septic tank into the overflow pit or cesspool where it can be leeched, safely, into the ground.

However, when the raw waste from the house contains significant amounts of harsh chemicals, laundry detergents, bleach and the like, the bacteria population is killed off and solids do not get processed. Instead, a heavy, system clogging sludge begins to form in the septic tank until it can no longer accept any more sewage. The waste lines can also become blocked and the sewage backs up. The system must be cleaned out professionally. The longer the system tries to function without a healthy bacterial population, the more often your system will have to be cleaned.

The best way to prevent these problems is to make sure that the bacteria population is replenished on a regular basis. We recommend our pre-measured packets of powdered enzyme / bacteria treatments. They're easy to use and completely safe. Introduced into a properly working system, they slow down sludge formation, help keep waste lines free of clogs and help to control odors. Best of all, used as directed, the treatments reduce the frequency of costly service calls. Of course, if your system is already clogged, a cleanout may be required for the treatments to have maximum effect.

Nothing can eliminate system maintenance, completely, but why pay for frequent service when you can help to keep your system operating at it's optimal efficiency for as little as 15 cents a day?
